The Canadian Historical Arms Society (CHAS) are celebrating their 50th Annual Show!

Join us at the CHAS Touch History Expo June 21 and 22 at Northlands (9 am-5 pm) as we host a charity booth. At the CHAS show, we’ll be donating the booth proceeds to Valour Place. Cashy money jars will also be available to donate pocket change (and bills!) to Valour Place or KNTR if you’re not in the mood to shop.

Adam Baldwin will be the featured guests at the 2014 show.

Appearing in a large number of films since 1980, Baldwin rose to prominence as the troubled outcast Ricky Linderman in My Bodyguard (1980) and moved on to bigger roles in D.C. Cab (1983),Full Metal Jacket (1987), Predator 2 (1990), Independence Day (1996), The Patriot (2000) and Serenity (2005)—in which he reprises his role as the mercenary Jayne Cobb from the television series Firefly.

Adam will be signing autographs and participating in photo shoots during the show for a $40 each on Saturday AND Sunday.

Admission to the show is $10 and tickets are available at the door. The show hours are from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Please tell your friends, family, enemies and everyone in between.

This is CHAS first year bringing in a special guest of this magnitude and we’d love to see them succeed. They are also attempting to change the format of their show to put a greater emphasis on history, artifacts, and educating the public.

This show celebrates CHAS 50th anniversary AND the 100th anniversary of the PPCLI here in Edmonton.

EEK! Comic and Pop Culture Fest

We attended the inaugural EEK! Comic and Pop Culture Fest in St. Albert this weekend and had a lovely time. We saw some old friends (Happy Harbor Comics, 501st Badlands group, Zoltan’s Gal) and made some new ones (Lethbridge Comic Expo, Eek! team). Special guest Stephen Amell generously donated his signature on an item for a future charity raffle and we raised $400 for charity. Not bad for a first year in a new city!

May Shindig: Brown Drinks

Rumour has it Browncoats might enjoy brown drinks. We are thrilled to partner with Happy Harbor Comics and The Malt Troll, Dave Parker (@MaltTroll on Twitter), for a charity tasting to benefit cancer research!

(includes samples, food & more!)

Date: Saturday, May 10
Time: 7pm (starting drinks available at 6:30pm)
Location: Happy Harbor Comics (10729 – 104 Avenue)

Several auction items, including some shiny items autographed by Nathan Fillion, will be up for bid as well. Cash, debit & credit accepted.

All proceeds go to the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society.

UPDATE: Brown Drinks raised $3001 for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society’s team-in -training.

2014 Spring On-line Auction Results

We didn’t reach the goal we’d set – perhaps $5000 was a bit too aggressive for our first on-line auction – but we did raise $2699.20 after the auction site fees were paid; a very respectable total! $674.80 will be donated to each of the four charities once all the auction items are paid.  This brings our 2014 charity donation total (to date) to $8954!

Arrangements for auction item delivery are in full swing.
